We are expanding the ‘A Pèl’ family: Parellada Montònega 2024, an amphora-aged wine from old high-altitude vineyards

Pla de Manlleu, April 2025.Loxarel launches a new limited production wine that claims the richness of an almost forgotten native variety: Parellada Montònega. The 2024 vintage ‘A Pèl Parellada Montònega‘ is a natural brisat with natural yeasts, without added sulfites, without filtration or physical or chemical stabilization, with six month of aging in clay amphora, made from grapes from the old La Coma vineyard, located at 700 meter above sea level in Pla de Manlleu.

The ‘A Pèl Parellada Montònega’ project is in itself a statement of intent, a hallmark of the house with which Loxarel has pioneered: biodynamics, minimal intervention, respect for the natural cycle and maximum expression of the clay soil and the landscape.

A piece of winemaking craftsmanship
Harvested by hand, the grapes are destemmed and placed directly into 720-liter clay amphorae, where spontaneous fermentation begins with the whole fruit in contact with the skins. This crisp white wine is aged for six months in the clay amphorae.

‘A Pèl Parellada Montònega’ becomes a complex, persistent sparkling wine, whith an alcohol volume of 10.5%, with aromas of white flowers, Mediterranean undergrowth and stone fruit, creamy and fresh on the palate, with notes of thyme and white fruit. With only 800 bottles, ‘A Pèl Parellada Montònega’ is born as an authentic piece of winemaking craftsmanship, faithful to the values of Loxarel winery, sensitive and attentive to the new culture of wine.
