Vilobí del Penedès, 26 de setembre de 2025.– Loxarel has brought to a close an exceptional harvest in its vineyards in Pla de Manlleu and Vilobí del Penedès, recording a 35% increase in yield compared with recent years. Afeter three seasons marked by severe drought, an unusually generous year of rainfall (arround 700 litres per square metre across the estate) together with ideal temperatures for vine growth and ripening, has resulted in a crop of outstanding quality, excellent health and notably abundant volume.
Loxarel’s technical team, led by owners Josep Mitjans and Teresa Nin, together with winemaker Pep Giralt, believe that the 2025 vintage is shapint up to be “exceptional, both in quality and quantity, with a perfect balance of ripeness and freshness that points to truly remarkable wines“. This stands in stark contrast to the previous three vintages, when water scarcity reduced yields and severely tasted the resilience of the vineyards.
The harvest began on 21 August in the Vilobí del Penedès vineyards with the earliest-ripening varieties, such as Macabeo, before continuing with both the red and white Xarel·lo, the indigenous grape that inspirerd the winery’s name and forms the backbone of many of its white and sparkling wines, celebrated for their authenticity and mediterranean personality. The picking lasted six weeks and concluded in the first week of October with the later-ripening varieties grown at higher elevations: white and red Grenache, Parellada and Parellada Montònega, Sauvignon Blanc and Syrah.
The year the vineyard was reborn
“This is the year that gives us hope and reaffirms the vineyard’s ability to regenerate when conditions allow”, explains Josep Mitjans. With a generous crop and grapes in impeccable health, the team anticipates wines that will capture the vitality and resilience of the landscape.
